Dr. Jason Chen serves as Medical Director of ARM's Veteran Program, where he leads the clinical vision for delivering personalized, evidence-based, integrative care to veterans and warfighters.
Dr. Chen is an integrative and functional family physician with more than 16 years of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He founded Johns Hopkins' first integrative primary care clinic, where he delivered comprehensive whole-person care and precepted medical students and residents. He has continued his commitment to medical education as founding faculty at the University of Northern Colorado College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he teaches Osteopathic Principles & Practice, and through prior faculty and teaching roles at Johns Hopkins, the University of Pennsylvania, and the George Washington University.
His clinical practice integrates conventional family medicine with osteopathic and neuromusculoskeletal medicine, functional and precision medicine, medical acupuncture, regenerative medicine, neuromodulation, and personalized approaches to chronic, complex disease and pain. His clinical philosophy centers on identifying and addressing underlying drivers of illness rather than simply treating symptoms.
Through his work with Spire Health Pathways and his broader clinical practice, Dr. Chen applies this whole-person approach to patients with complex, multisystem conditions and chronic pain syndromes. He is the first physician in Colorado to provide Axon mPNS neuromodulation through VA Community Care in partnership with TriWest for painful conditions including painful diabetic neuropathy, post-amputation stump pain, occipital neuralgia, and other chronic pain syndromes affecting veterans and warfighters.
Dr. Chen also serves as an Independent Physician Clinical Reviewer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, conducting peer reviews and medical advisory opinions focused on evidence-based care, diagnostic timeliness, and quality. He serves on the National Quality Forum's P4QM Cost & Efficiency Committee, contributing to the evaluation and endorsement of national healthcare quality and value measures.
As Executive and Medical Director of Christ Clinic Fort Collins, Dr. Chen leads a volunteer clinical team providing no-cost medical care to adults and children who might otherwise go without care. His work across clinical practice, medical education, quality improvement, innovation, and community service reflects a consistent commitment to bringing high-quality, personalized medicine to populations that need it most.
Through ARM, Dr. Chen is especially passionate about applying this whole-person model to veterans and warfighters—integrating rigorous clinical medicine, precision diagnostics, lifestyle and functional interventions, neuromodulation, and multidisciplinary collaboration to address the complex physical, psychological, and systemic consequences of service. His goal is not simply to manage disease, but to help those who served reclaim health, function, resilience, and quality of life.
